Hello,
I am Sandra. Thank you for being here.
I believe that Yoga is for everyone, without any exception.
I grew up in Germany and my love of yoga began in 2010 while working as an AuPair in the Bay Area. I took my very first class at the PJCC (Peninsula Jewish Community Center) and little did I know how much it would change my life. After finishing my studies in Sociology and Education Studies in Hamburg, Germany, I moved to San Francisco to be with my partner and best friend. No matter the outer circumstances and location changes, yoga has carried me through big life events, as well as my ordinary day-to-day routines, in an honest and supportive way. After being a dedicated student for over a decade, I graduated from Namaste’s Yoga 200hr Teacher Training in Oakland, CA.
I currently live in Oakland, CA with my husband and our little son. These two people are the foundation and reason why I strive to grow, learn and deepen my practice each and every day.
About My Classes:
My thoughtful, well-rounded sequences focus on mindful alignment and leave room for exploration. I find that much of our mental and physical strength lies in the softness in our efforts. In other words: Yoga is not only what we do but how we do what we do. The flow in my classes is moderate and allows space for variations in each pose. I love incorporating breath awareness and meditation in my classes because I find that these tools allow us to access the power of silence and observation. I teach with simple props, clear instructions and care. My goal is to encourage you to listen to your own body while I guide you with suggestions, at the same time. I want to make yoga accessible for everyone and ensure my students leave their mat feeling more physically and mentally connected to themselves.
Why Practice:
We live in tumultuous times, sharing intense experiences such as living through a global pandemic and witnessing social injustices in the US and across the globe. Blatant racism and environmental destruction cause division and pain. Yoga allows us to reset and reconnect with ourselves. It’s an ancient and intimate practice that gives us space and supports us on our individual journeys. Yoga allows us to reflect and show up for our world, which is in such desperate need of more love, compassion, and healing.
I feel honored to be part of your journey and will support you with the best of my knowledge and care.
